Portrait Techniques

Subject Expression:  I would like to use this because I love taking pictures of peoples expressions

Framing: This is really cool. I love how close you can be and take great shots. I want to do this when I take my shots.

Low perspective: I love taking different perspective pictures, because it gives you a different view of everything.

Lighting: I found this picture really cool. I love how the lights come out in swirls.

Famous Portaits

I chose this photograph by Richard Avedon because I like how he has a white background so you are not distracted. I thought that he really captured the feelings that men felt when they worked in mines. It really shows how bad it was back then, and how bad the miners had it.

I chose this photograph by Arnold Newman because I loved the colors and how he set the person. I feel like if I walked down a busy street and just looked I could find this. The colors really bring me to the person sitting. That is some of the reason why I like the photograph.

I chose this photograph of Mick Jagger by Annie Leibovitz  in Buffalo, New York, 1975. I chose this because you would think that the photographer just ran into him, but actually it was set up. This is why I like some of Annie Leibovitz photos.

Shadows

When I took this photo I felt the cold air on my cheeks and I was so scared to walk on the ice. I could smell the fresh air and as I was walking I could hear the birds chirping in the distance. It is such a nice sound that I could be out there forever. The photo could describe everything i felt.

Stay Strong

Purpose:

  • To strengthen your creative problem-solving skills so that you are looking at things in a different way;
  • To find letters of the alphabet in everyday objects to create a word;
  • To become familiar with basic photoshop tools.

One of the things I learned doing this project was if you look close enough and hard enough then you could find letters. I think that it was a good way to test the way your eyes see the world. In the project we had to find letters that would spell out our word. Second, I learned that most of your everyday objects are letters. I learned that after you take a photo you could make it look better with photoshop. And lastly, I learned how to use photoshop, which really helped with some of the photos that I took. The most used tool I think I used was brightness/contrast. I used these the most because a lot of my photographs were a little dark. I like photoshop because it helped clear my images. These are all important to my learning because now when I take pictures I have a better knowledge of different techniques I can do with my camera. It will definitely change the way I see the world through the camera.

Unusual Perspective

When I took this picture I could hear clicking of the camera it was so quiet and peaceful. I smelled the fresh aroma of cinnamon rolls as it baked in the kitchen. It filled the air around me and my dog. I could see the peacefulness and calmness in my dog as she fell asleep. As I took the photo I felt calm and relaxed as she was. It seemed like we were in sync. Everything was quiet as everyone was in their own space.
